Betel Leaf

Betel leaf is used as a minor green in smoothie and has the number of benefits for your health!


Betel leaf is rich source of calcium and good for digestion. It is used to treat various diseases like bad breath, boils and abscesses, conjunctivitis, constipation, swelling of gums, cuts, and injuries.

The essential oil contained in the leaves possesses anti-bacterial, anti-protozoan, and anti-fungal properties. Therefore, the oil kills or inhibits the growth of the deadly bacteria that cause typhoid, cholera, tuberculosis, etc. 

Betel leaves has antioxidant effect due to the presence of phenol. The leaf produces an aromatic volatile oil containing a phenol, which has powerful antiseptic properties.

The essential oil present gives rise to a sensation of warmth and well-being in the mouth and stomach.

NOTE:
• We recommend betel leaf to be used regularly in smoothie.
• Minor Greens in the smoothie need to be changed in a week.

8 Years Tablets Stopped in Month - Last 4 Years Clearing GTT

FREEDOM STORY!

8 YEARS TABLETS STOPPED WITHIN A MONTH

FROM LAST 4 YEARS CONSECUTIVELY CLEARING GTT 




Hello, myself Atul shah from Pune, age 70 years.  When I joined Intensive Batch 8 in Nov 2013 my HBa1c was 7.5 and I was taking 5 tablets in a day.  My weight was 101 kg.

After, I started following the FFD diet my tablets stopped within a month. Now,  my HbA1c is now below 6. I lost 6 kg in just 1 month and 15 kgs in 3 months. 

I was compelled to change my wardrobe. Now my weight is 82 kgs. My target is to achieve 80 kgs, which was my weight in 1970 when I took my first LIC policy. 

In Jan 2012, excess weight; I had to do both knee replacements.  I wish I had met Dr Pramod in 2008. May be I would not have gone through knee replacement. 

My regular routine goes in this way - Everyday almost 2 hours Gym/ Yoga/ Zumba/ Swimming. In evening, 45 mts walk and 15 minutes antigravity. Now, I am able to climb 8 stories of my building. 

I take green smoothie and diet prescribed by FFD with occasional deviations. 

I have also climbed Palitana Jain pilgrimage and Girnar both in Gujarat in 2 consecutive days.  I walk occasionally from Kalyani nagar to Dagdusheth Ganpati. In above picture, I have climbed the Sydney Harbour on my 70th birthday!

Many of you have been working diligently for the last few months / years to clear the FINAL TEST OF FREEDOM - THE PRESTIGIOUS GLUCOSE TOLERANCE TEST.
Those who clear the GTT this year, will be felicitated as FREEDOM CHAMPIONS with great fanfare at the upcoming MUKTOTSAV 2018
All FFDians, are hereby invited to take up this challenge and enjoy the true taste of freedom!

GTT PROCESS:
 ♠ Step 1: Check if you are eligible
Criteria for eligibility
a. Hba1c - 6 or less
b. Insulin / medicine completely stopped for at least 2 months
c. Hba1c report should have been done between from 1 June to 15 August
 ♠ Step 2: Fill up the Google form

Have you tried dosa with Barley? बार्ले डोसा

Try this barley dosa (बार्ले डोसा) and share your feedback with us.

BARLEY DOSA RECIPE


Ingredients:
• Soaked barley 1 cup
• Ajwain ¼ tsp
• Dhania powder – ½ tsp
• Jeera powder –1/2 tsp
• Red chilli powder- ½ tsp
• Rock Salt

Method:
Grind soaked barley with 1-1 ½ cup of water to make a smooth batter. Add all other ingredients and mix well. Make dosas on the oiled tawa.

आजकी रेसिपी: बार्ले डोसा

सामग्री:
• भिगोली बार्ले 1 कप
• अजवेन ¼ छोटा चम्मच
• धानिया पाउडर - ½ छोटा चम्मच
• जीरा पाउडर -1/2 छोटा चम्मच
• लाल मिर्च पाउडर- ½ छोटा चम्मच
• सेंधा नमक

तरीका:
भीगी हुई बार्ले को 1-1 ½ कप पानी के साथ पीस लें। अन्य सभी सामग्री को डाले और अच्छी तरह मिलाएं। तवा पर आयल लगाके डोसा बनाओ।

Do medicines have side effects?

MYTH vs FACT! 


There is a myth that if sugars are controlled with medicines / insulin there is no need to control your diet or change your lifestyle.



This is TOTALLY WRONG!


INSIGHTFUL INFORMATION:
  1. All medicines have side effects.
  2. With medicines/ insulin you are only stuffing more sugar into cells which are already overloaded so the problem is only increased. High blood sugar in diabetes is the superficial symptom, the real deeper disease is insulin resistance which is not touched by any tablet or insulin significantly
  3. Insulin resistance leads to obesity and many other health problems like hypothyroid, hypertension, PCOD, cardiovascular diseases and many more. Taking blood sugar lowering medications does not help any of the above.
  4. Long term complications do happen to people despite good sugar control.
  5. Medications also affect kidney and liver function as major medicine are metabolized and filtered here.

So, in a way the best and only optimal option is to reduce/ get rid of diabetes medications, by changing your mindset and lifestyle and follow a proper diet and exercise schedule to reverse the disease in a step by step manner!

• Stevia is a natural sweetener. It is originally from Brazil. It is a small shrub looks like Tulsi.

Stevia can be used in the following ways

1. FRESH LEAVES:
When finely chopped leaves are used in salads, mix them well, and leave the dish after mixing for five to ten minutes for its sweetness to mix properly.
For a soup bowl of salad 2-3 leaves are enough. Cut them fine.

2. DRY LEAVES:
When the plant is pruned the leaves are dried in shade and can be stored. Green powder of dried leaves is also available in many medical and Ayurvedic store. When used directly in dishes mix well and leave for five minutes.

Please note that Stevia has a typical aroma and taste. So some have to develop a taste for it.
